FAQ

What is House of Vida?

House of Vida is a small, independent design label based in Hamburg, Germany. We create print-on-demand clothing and accessories, each piece made to order rather than mass-produced or kept in stock. Our designs are illustrated in-house and finished in Germany using DTF printing and embroidery on Stanley/Stella garments.

Alongside the collection, we also offer design and consulting services for other brands and businesses. Get in touch via our Studio page for more information, and check out the portfolio (soon).

What is Print-on-Demand?

Print-on-Demand (POD) means every piece is made only once it's ordered, nothing is pre-produced or sitting in a warehouse. That's why we can offer a range of designs without overproducing, and why nothing gets thrown away because it didn't sell.

Where are your products made?

Printing and finishing take place in Germany, keeping shipping routes short and quality control close.

The garments themselves come from Stanley/Stella, who produce just over 99% of their collection in five partner factories in Bangladesh and one in China. They work deliberately with a small, fixed number of factories to build long-term, fair partnerships rather than switching suppliers for the lowest price. You can read more about their approach on their sustainability page.

What finishing (printing) methods do you use?

We only use two methods, chosen to fit our print-on-demand model: DTF and embroidery.

DTF (Direct-to-Film) prints your design onto a special film, then transfers it onto the fabric using heat. It gives sharp detail, strong colour and holds up well to washing, even on darker fabrics.

Embroidery stitches the design directly into the fabric with thread. It's more textured, more durable, and gives smaller logos and details a premium, tactile feel.

Just two finishing methods that hold up over time and do the designs justice.

How long does it take to receive my order?

Each piece is made only once it's ordered. Production usually takes 1 to 2 business days, followed by shipping, which typically adds another 1 to 2 business days within Germany, or 2 to 4 business days across the rest of Europe. So most orders arrive within about a week.

What about sizing?

Fit varies a bit between our different styles, from relaxed to oversized. We recommend checking the size chart on each product page and comparing it to a piece you already own, rather than relying on your usual size alone.

How should I care for my pieces?

Wash cold or at 30°C, ideally inside out, and skip the tumble dryer, air dry instead. It keeps the fabric and print in better shape for longer.

What if something's wrong with my order?

Since every piece is made to order just for you, we can't offer exchanges or refunds simply for a change of mind. But if something's actually wrong, wrong size (more than about 5% off, unwashed), a print error, or damage, get in touch with a photo of the issue (including the small ID tag on the garment) within 60 days of delivery, and we'll send a free replacement.

One thing to note: if a garment was washed outside the care instructions above, we won't be able to offer a replacement for damage caused by that.

Where do you ship to?

We currently ship within Germany and the rest of the EU. We're not shipping outside the EU (including the US) at the moment.

How much does shipping cost?

Within Germany: €5.99 for orders up to €54.99, free from €65 and up. Need it faster? Express shipping is available for €9.99.

Within the EU: Standard international shipping is €13.99.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept PayPal, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay.
